graceland's Diaryland Diary

What about Dover?

The luck that this Bush administration has is amazing. Truly amazing. First they have what may be the largest natural disaster in American histroy fall right before and over the Labor Day weekend, thereby insulating a guilty administration of what could have been even more damaging media coverage. Lucky for them, many people turned off their TV's, didn't pick up newspapers and missed much of the missteps the administration made.

Then, further shielding the weakened feds was the September 11th anniversary, there to remind the public that Bush is "fighting this war on terror." Never mind that we have yet to apprehend the mastermind of those terror attacks, or that the terror organization has already rebuilt itself in the war we allegedly won in afghanistan or that we continue to lose men to grassroots opposition of our invasion in Iraq. Forget all of that, and remember Bush with a bullhorn on a steaming pile of iron and flesh at Ground Zero. Our boy gets his photo opp.

I'd say they are really fucking lucky - this White House, but it ain't enough. His numbers are down, down, down. His congressmen are fleeing from him like he's a cancer. His golden tickets keep fucking up for him - first his mother misspeaks, now his wife bungled the name of the disaster that will go down in infamy. What next, Dubya? Will your Boy Genius finally be indicted for committing the felony that led to placing Judith Miller behind bars? What then? What will you do then? Beg Dick Morris to come to your aid?

I almost feel bad for the President. I do, because it's evident he's in way over his head. He's not a bright guy. He can't think for himself. He certainly can't speak for himself. And he's completely at a loss.

I say I *almost* feel bad, because I don't. I don't feel bad for a guy who got into office and rewarded all of his elitest friends with special interest deals and more tax breaks, making the middle and lower classes pay. He lied to senior citizens about social security and medicaid and now is working to fuck them over by pulling out of those programs. But what I really don't like about the President, is his smirk. He's laughing at all of us, while he awards greedy swindlers like Halliburton more contracts and offers protection to evildoers like Tom DeLay.

I don't feel badly about the President sinking rather than swimming, because I don't think he cares about this country or our people. I think he only cares about himself, his friends and their special interests.

I think if the President were a true patriot, he'd resign. And by God, he'd save some of our boys who die every day on foreign soil and don't even get the dignity of being saluted or documented by the media as they come back in body bags.

What about Dover, Mr President? Can you even locate it on a map?
